  • specialized have always been massive. i always thought they made great stuff, certainly their top-end is 'off the peg'. seems to me that lately they have grown exponentially though.

  • do you think the london city edition langster was a success from specialized's point of view, commercially? i went into a bike shop in amersham and another in slough when they were new out and the shop owners were 'stoked' to have them in stock. one guy even said he really had to fight hard to get any at all...

oh yeah, they weren't trying to sell me one i promise!

  • yeah, i expect they sold well... it would be interesting to know, though.

i think they're like a mini cooper with a union jack on the roof - people love that stuff, it looks different, cool and fun.

most people don't see their bike as an extension of their personality, and object which defines them.

we don't like it, but we were never meant to.

  • Wow nihmbus - you managed to work two forumenger names into your post. Is that your challenge "du jour?"

  • heh. actually, it hadn't really occured to me. i certainly wasn't trying to be super precise about it, i'm still sitting here in my pajamas.

  • i go into 'fixie' hand position on long dragging climbs. i do it on my mtb and road bike. for smoother action, minimise swaying

but what's up with cyclists riding with their hands on the top of drops who dont even have brakes?! ;p

  • If going uphill, only the deeply misguided would have their hands at the bottom of the drops. The upper position allows more air into and out of one's lungs, than the compressed "crouch" position. In normal use, the header-higher-up position, allows one to see more of the road. 2 reasons that could explain the phenomenon of using the upper position, even without brakes?

    Sez you...

  • Sez you...

    Exactly what I was thinking.

  • Going up Mont Ventoux.
Ulrich clearly needs some guidance too...

  • I like langster's, they make people ride, i like seeing people ride there for i like the new cycle surgery add. plus a like graff. A ll good in my opinion x Em

  • Em doesn't hate on anything!
    Bloody scenesters...

  • I'm sure in Matt Rendell's book about Pantani he goes over his climbing position on the bike and the reasons for it, but then again I could be a fucking retard and be making all this up.

I tried it once, I wobbled like shit all over the road, then my back ached like fuck for days after.

    I'll shut up now.

    i like your new avatar : )
ooo i do, i hate haters, i hate really negative people and i hate anchovies

  • OFF TOPIC - @em
Thanks, I was looking at the old one through an alcohol fuelled haze at 1 am and realised it was not really 'me'. Then I changed it to a pile of kittens
Then I found the perfect one, reminiscent of my old one, but without the whole 1950s pin-up thing...

  • I love it : )

  • Off Topic - it's from deviant art lots of cutesiness.

  • that's an awesome off-the-peg, i'd be stoked to have one.

  • hahahaha thats funny to.

  • that saddle is off the peg.

  • I wouldn't ride it but it would make me double take.

  • No:

I like that, when you click on "geometry" it just says "Who needs geometry? this stuff is OFF THE PEG !!"

  • I built up my bike as a tribute to the london langster I was so inspired by it
    (minus the red hubs)
