Tim westwood makes me ANGRY!
why?
He talks like a dick but he genuinely loves his music. Just a shame that he likes that horrible populus style of hip hop. But its got an audience and he's great at what he does (he's a DJ, more a personality DJ but DJ none the less).
I've worked with him a few times. He's a really nice guy and hes been involved in making Hip Hop way more popular in the UK than it was when he started many years ago.

What a lame reason to hate him.
The fact that he's white (and all the other reasons) is immaterial (It aint where you're from its where you're at). Also what gives you the impression he wishes he was an "18 year old black kid from the streets of broklyn who likes glocks and 9's." He doesn't talk with an American Accent, as far as I know he doesn't talk about or promote guns or gun use nor does he give the impression that he had it hard growing up (or that he's anything other than 40+). He talks like that because thats how lots of ppl talk on the scene he's in (maybe he thinks its cool too, who knows?).
DJ Derek is a former accountant, 66 years old, white and talks in Jamaican Patios yet no-one ever makes this argument against him.
Hate Westwood cause he's annoying by all means (God knows many ppl do) but not cause of the ignorant reasons you listed.

Charlie Gillett is also (probably) A "40+ year old middle class white bloke who likes knit wear" but read his "The sound of the city" (an expansion of his phd thesis) and you'll have a better understanding of popular music.
CG said in one of his radio shows that he thought D'n'B to be the most significant musical development of the 90s. I've never been a great fan of the genre (give me C+W any day). But I'll listen to CG rather than TW any time -

In the Early days when hip hip was just hip hop (upto mid-late 90s), he played a good range of music. However as hip hop has grown into a multi headed beast that has commercial strands, gangster strands, conscientious strands as well as experimental strands he seems to have nailed his true colors to the mast. Like I said: HIP POP
I listened to some of the typical artists that get endless plugs on his show; whilst I cannot & will not blame them 100% you can see a direct influence in the behavior and mentality of the young ferral cunts that maraud our streets.
It seems many community leaders/journalists/+iveDJs find it a little galling to have his face endlessly pushing and promoting these fucktards with their dry lyrics.

I don't like the type of hiphop he plays either but the simple fact is its got an audience and the BBC being a publicly owned broadcaster has to appeal to all sectors of society.
Also I don't agree with this:

PPL said the same thing about Rock and Roll in the 50s. You will always have ferral cunts on the streets the type of music they listen to has nothing to do with the way they act (imo).

you really beleive it's ignorant of me to dislike a person for pretending to be something he's not. he may not talk with an american accent he does however use american slang in a british context. No he does not promote guns however alot of hip hop relates to it (and don't give the argument of different types of hip hop that dont, the majority does) you've said he talks like that because thats how lots of people talk on the "scene" this is not a reason this is an excuse it's mindless and takes no intellect to follow and imitate that which others do.

How is Westwood pretending to be something he's not? He really is like that. Obviously hes not always the way he acts on the mic but then do you think Rappers are the way they say they are all the time?

He uses American slang agreed and he has (certainly in the past) favoured US Hip Hop but he does Champion the UK stuff too. But thats pretty good going seeing as US Hip Hop is way bigger than all other countries hip hop and as a result some of that slang is going to get picked up on and used.

I didn't give you that argument (although its true that many forms of hip hop do not promote guns) but I'd love to know how you can state that "the majority does". Also what is wrong with him talking like that? If I want to talk to ppl in Victorian English I'm free to do so, ppl are inclined to think I'm a dick for doing it but thats fine. Whenever I've spoken to him he speaks quite normally and is polite but when he gets on the mic he's got to be 'Westwood' again. Hes been doing it for a long time now, its not like he can just stop and start introducing tunes like John Peel did.

I've always thought Westwood a silly man... Who was the dude that used to do the Radio London Friday night hip-hop slot back in the 80s (or was it Capital?! Apologies, brain cell death) ? Kinda came over like an old skool Alan Freeman type disk jockey but actually really knew his shit... He was also hilarious, but in a different, better way...
