I was mildly amused when you quickly hand over your expensive (I think) Canon HD camcorder for a few second just to show me your sign language considering you never met me before!
your sign language is a BSL - British Sign Language, and yes there's more than one, it's not surprising that the American have their own as well, which when a deaf American signed to me once in Las Vegas, it's as if he's speaking fucking french to me.
anyway it's nice to meet you, I knew it's a good idea to find out what bike you have before going out back in London again, was in a rush cause I was late meeting my girlfriend in Russell Square!
You know you look like an undercover hipster Police Officier using your camera as if it a speed camera flagging down cyclist who's breaking the speed limit (or HHSB limit).

Yep, well remembered, Canon HD and yes very expensive !! What can I say, you have a trustworthy face !

Yeah, I am amazed at how many people scowl at me - I think they think I am clocking their speed like you say. I might buy a helmet and truncheon from the toy shop to finish off the look.

tynan, did you says summat about having a pints before I rushed off to meet my girlfriend?
No, I can't drink too much at the moment as I am up late looking after our new baby (aren't all babies new, anyone seen any old babies ?) - gotta feed him every three hours through the night, it wouldn't be good to be face down on the living room floor with chain marks on the back of my legs snoring and stinking of booze. (again).
Although saying that, I might turn up for a pint or two tomorrow at the Lamb (?) . . . .

some dude on a rather nice flourescent yellow/green whip navigating through the traffic outside Camberwell College I think. That nice smooth bit of road before it turns shitty again.
I was embroiled in cars coming the ther way - we acknowledged each other as we were definitely the only slicksters in that melee.
Hello there!

Tynan Is Watching You.....:S
Hoping that taxi sticker could be zoomed in on to reveal "I Am Become Death" - what happened to those...?

I will have to ask Wayne where he got his WAC stickers done, it would be good to get some full size ones . . . .
Such fun to be had . . . :)

Why were you filming around London? I forget to ask.
I must get the I Am Become Death sticker, it's such a brilliant sticker.

When I get enough good footage together I want to put together a short piece about . . . . yes. . . cycling in London ! Maybe get it aired (?). Need to do some proper interviews with cycle folk and their crazy bicycle machines - but I won't bother with that until I have my 35mm adaptor for my camera (nice lenses, nice depth of field, people look nice).

They should be cool ! :) I can only let you have a bunch if you promise not to put them over the official badges on cabs . . . we wouldn't want that . . .no, definitely not. . . . :P

35mm adaptor? I assumed your camera is a medium format? unless you're talking about video cameras, which is not in my field at all.
a London version of MASH, methinks everyone should chime in as much as they can to make it work.

[QUOTE=edscoble;212787]35mm adaptor? I assumed your camera is a medium format? unless you're talking about video cameras, which is not in my field at all.
Yep, Video camera ! :)
I am going to use 35mm SLR camera lenses on the video camera (most sub £10,000 video cameras have fixed lenses - that don't give much in the way fo depth of field).
The 35mm (Canon or Nikon) lens will focus it's image on a focusing screen (basically a bit of ground glass) in between the 35mm lens and the video cameras lens - and the video camera will have it's focus locked on to the focusing screen, then the 35mm lens will handle all the focusing.
I botched one together to test the theory, hand made glass focusing screen ground down with sandpaper, extension tubes, glue, lots of glue - and it showed that it all works in theory, but to get the resolved image to broadcast quality involves get a real bit of super fine ground glass made up and some CNC work for the various mounts . . .
Should be ready soonish, here is a picture of my hip hop slave cat Dave shot through the home made 35mm . . . ignore the soft crap image, it just shows that the theory works.
I have been accused in the past of bogging people down in my own self generated technical quagmires so I won't go on any more :P

Kind of like MASH but without the hills, tricks, nice sunshine and people - London is more like a breakneck traffic rollercoaster !! It would be cool to interview a some of the people here . . .

call it BANGER for the London one, BANGER & MASH would be a nice combination, the British supply their best sausage and the yanks, well supply their moderately acceptable potatoes.
I got what you mean by the 35mm lenses on the video cameras, and I fully understand why 35mm since the digital equation have too much crop thus vignetting noticably in video cameras.

Ha ! I quite like 'Banger' :D Actually it would have to be 'Bangers' (plural) for the 'bangers & mash' pun to work, but nice anyway. :)

Bloke in Rapha cap on sparkly new Peacemaker @ bottom of Queenstown road (with myriad other ss & fg's) - 1st time i've seen one in the flesh and they are very lovely.
2 single-speeders (1x plug, 1x unipack), front brake only, flats & trainers. New to this cycling lark by the look of it, so why remove one of your brakes? Idiots.
Oh - and if you want to look as though you are riding fixed you have to keep pedalling. Duh.

spotted loads of you fellas riding back from the track day on sunday. I was unable to attend due to landlady commitments, and a visit from my flatmate's friend.
Also was unable to attend drinks last night due to a gig.. and it's not looking likely for central drinks tonight because I have a meeting with a lady from BT in a bar! And I've left my fucking wallet on the N35. I fucking HATE BUSES

i reckon they could make the english version of my name is earl with you ASM!
edscoble - Clerkenwell Road - brand new shiny Nitto drops on his Bianchi. Were you impressed with my rubbish sigh language ? ;P - my ex-girlfriend was the assistant to the head of the RNID - she was fluent in all sign languages (are there more than one?) and tried to teach me, but I was rubbish, all I learnt was "My name is L-E-E" (and even that I get wrong most times) !
Hassan - Outside Cavendish with his touring bike (headed to Bristol on it?) and his friend (Mike was it?) headed to Greece on his bike (!!!!!!!!!!) Nice to meet you, I might come in tomorrow for that 15t E.A.I.
slaytanic - on his ultra white super bike - that was me trying to wave you down on Clerkenwell Road !! But you were 100% focused on ploughing on through !! All I got out of you was a little swerve and you just powered on ! You were like a demon possessed :)
tomiskinky - slaving away on Theobald's Road headed East - I love that bike, I might have to follow you around in a fake ambulance waiting for your big stack so I can steal the bike.
