TrixieDix tricks night: Every Tuesday, any time from 6.30pm (night usually kickin' by 8.00pm). White's Row Car Park Roof. White's Row, Off Commercial Street, Spitalfieds, E1.
.
Right, this has got me thinking. I'm sure I had this conv with someone last week and we started to form something of an idea - trub is, nights tend to roll into one and I can't remember past the boozey haze.
We'll change the name of the thread / name of the night soon, but two reasons why it's called this for now: one, I figure anyone involved is going to look like a bit of a dick for the first few weeks; second, it has hopefully caught your eye and you already have an idea what it's about. Here's the story:
The girls got together last year and got shit organised rather well to do something other than just drink beer. I haven't seen a lot of them in action but I figure in all these months some of them have gone from barely riding their fixed bikes to pulling off cool tricks and commanding the polo court.
I would like to be able to do the same by the end of the year - seeing month-for-month progress.
At a very basic level I would appreciate some guidance on how to rinse trackstands and pull good skips and skids so that by the end of August I am a better (and okay slicker) London rider.
What I'm proposing I guess is a night where some of the guys around London Town who **can't **bust fly tricks can meet up and practice - just like the TrixieChix did and still do. The trouble with the guys is there's about thirty or so who are wicked at tricks, trackstands, skids etc. and then there's the likes of me that kind of looks on goin, "aw, wish I could do that." Maybe the place to do it is Polo but let me know which one, cos it sure ain't gonna be the Sunday session. Way too many cool cats already busting fly shit to want to do it there. Yes it's called being shit and shy. Once I've got a trackstand sorted out I won't be.
I also figure that we are entering the third wave of fixed riders now - yes it's getting bigger. So that should mean a growing number of people who are new to it and need the practice.
I'm putting myself on the line a bit here because I know the instant answer is "just...do it.." and I could just go off by myself to a park at the crack of dawn and goof for months as pony-tailed musclemen do their Tai-Chi and CEOs star-jump to the barked orders of their personal trainers. but I'm throwing this out to see if there's any interest in a group effort. Summer's here. A concentrated timeslot every week when those who want to practice can do so with a few buddies. I'd say wednesdays, before Easts, or Sunday evenings.
Like I say, if there's an ideal Polo session just say and maybe we can have it going on in the background.
Any interest? Or is it already happening?
I'm cool if everyone thinks, "bellend". I'll just get a couple of buddies to show me and go off to the park and take loads longer to wire stuff.
