  • Ive just heard that a cyclist has been hit by a lorry on SHS @ around 9-ish; possibly due to undertaking the lorry/lorry overtaking - thats all i know atm

  • nope not good at all. Another lorry Christ. Best not come to any conclusions until the facts are available

  • ghost bike time?

  • very sad.

  • Always really hard to hear about.

  • There's something about that junction i've never liked. It's a pretty straight forward junction yet it's wierdly intimidating.
    Horrible news.

  • ghost bike time?

    +1

the ghost bike where the guy died further south on kingsland road is really effective to raise awareness

  • Oh man...
    that is truly terrible news.
lorries + junctions = wide berth.
    be safe people.

  • Dark.

  • Sad news.
    +1 Ghost bike...
    RIP

  • Fu%k! bad & sad news. ride safe.

  • That sucks.

  • On our way to polo yesterday small brown bike almost got taken out by a bus,

The bus was over taking to get to a bus stop in time and matt was between it and the bus stop. pedal curb strike. Lucky Matt smacked the side of the bus with his mallet... and squeezed through the gap.

Classic scenario really, you cant even assume that some one has seen you.

  • That's such terrible news

  • Blimey - another woman taken out by a truck. What a nightmare.

  • sad news.

The more posts like these I read the further away I keep from anything bigger / big as a SUV.

Have to say though, I find buses give me room more often than not

  • Honestly,

i was picking something up at lunch and was out on the bike. Stopped at red lights a lady asked if she could go straight across the junction and who should give way. Both lanes opposite were one way, facing us. I'm not sure anyone really knows what they are doing. I have a good few stupid moments every now and again, but i understand that going into a one way street full of traffic is not perhaps the best idea.

My regards to the family, i'm not in any way saying this particular woman didn't know what she was doing.

    chris

  • That's really sad. + 1 for ghost bike.

  • Plus, let's leave off jumping to conclusions w/o all the facts.

  • My thoughts go out to her family. Tragic stuff.

  • Terrible news, makes me very sad to read.

As above, justMouse, I have no idea of the circumstances, but it prompted me to fwd the Moving Target guidance on HGV's at junctions to all riders at my work, asking people to read the link no matter how experienced they are.

    Be safe all,

    Chop

  • Awful news, my thoughts go to the family.

  • shit. I was cycling to work down through Stokey this morning when I got to Amhurst road an Ambulance motorcycle was traveling at speed up towards manor road. I remember thinking they must be going to a serious call now I know. Very Sad RIP.
