I just wanted to end the ride there as a lot of people will be heading back central anyhows and after an epic ride it will be cool to watch the sun come up.
This is what we did on the first bridges ride anyway.
No way could I have gotten up that early on a Saturday regardless of the occasion.
Weather is looking similar to the first ride as well, which turned out all right. -
• #156
^ that list + One armed Slag
I was planning to watch the match before we kick off. anyone around central around 8 looking to do the same and know a decent pub near southbank that would show it???

not that I'll be missed in 60 people but too deflated after problems with bike today and can't face rolling up on a frickin Giant hybrid. 23 gears too many.

48 started 12 finished at Piccadilly, good ride, just one puncture on the way back into town and a fun time was had by all. Was hoping to top the 100 mark for this one, but c'est la vie.
Skully I'll be looking to get that Grace Jones Cd off you at west beers one of these weeks. Maybe I'll see some of you down at polo tomorrow/today.
And remember
A day on the forum is like a day on the farm,
every breakfasts a banquet,
and every paychecks a fortune.Until the next one...

Further proof of the kind of guys who are on this forum.
Festus
Skullhead
Tobi
jamesThanks very much guys, I wouldn't have liked to have been alone.
Short version:
I was hit by a car on Old Street roundabout. I stayed on the bike sheer luck - I wish I could remember how. Festus and Skullhead asked if I got the number plate, I said no, and they chased off after the car. Tobi pulled me off the road by my handlebars insisting that I stop. I put my bike on the railings and then the tube exploded - my tire must have been knocked off the rim.Buckled back wheel, but not so bad. As I was finishing fixing it, Festus and Skullhead come back. Festus has the cnut's car keys which he managed to get after some bonnet surfing (yes, that's what I said). The cnut fled the seen leaving the car. Police said he may have been leaving the seen of an earlier crime.
Nobody was hurt - but guys - you went above and beyond and I am grateful.
Oh and Festus - the stuff I was talking about is called 'Compeed'.
Going to be now.

Festus is an actual crime fighting cycle hero. Absolutely amazing. That truly was above and beyond.
Really glad you’re alright Stompy. I’ve no idea how you stayed on that bike but I’m f*cking glad you did. You must have some mad skills.
I’d love to be able to tell the whole story, but I didn’t see it all, and I’m too goddam tired anyway. Guess it’ll have to wait for Festus or Skully.
‘Night all,
Toby
(And we’ll have no more of this ‘Tobi’ nonsense please ;) ) -

The ride yesterday night was fun, so as the map indicates we met at boris's gaff. Must have been 40-50 riders there, fixed, ss and geared. At the millennium bridge, we suffered our first puncture outside the tate, not that i know of the rest of the ride was clear sailing.
The weather last night was really good for riding, right up to the point when we reach the end and was thinking about setting off... sods law.
Memorable parts for me were:Going over the millennium bridge and the racket of the metal floor panels as 50 riders clattered over it.
Stopping at parliament square to hear 12 hit.
The Albert bridge in all its lit up glory.
Passing westies and not seeing murtle propping up the bench.
Nice little dark, park ride... flashing lights pretty much giving every one an eppi
The rail/walk bridge. Barnes bridge
...and general sprinting over bridges.
Banter was good along the whole ride... nice to see people making to the end, despite being tired.
Same time next year ;)

Awesome ride guys.
Was great to meet so many of you on my first London ride.
Cool to see all the people we picked up along the way including Offlicence Pete
Until next time when I'm back from the States

Stompy, glad to hear you're okay. Just goes to show it ain't over til you're in your house with a warm mug of cocoa.
Festus, Skully, fairplay to you guys, I'll grab you a couple of beers, the next time I sees ya.
And Toby, props for staying with the big man, whilst he made repairs.
An uneventful ride turns into a bike versus car chase, such are the things that legends are made of ;-P
See you guys down at polo or one of the drinks. Enjoy the rest. Be Safe... -

The stoppage at the Tate was for a stripped hub. Luckily hub was fixed/fixed and Hillbilly was on the case.

Great ride as always and a brilliant route, would have liked to have hung around longer at the end but had to make a dash. Seb and I got caught in a torrential storm on the way back through North London. Got in absolutely soaked. Well worth it though. Until the next one...
