Paul Silver cranks / rings

  • a short test run (2) of polished Paul test cranks / rings are coming in to BLB sometime soon. Gonna look something like this (but all shiny like):

  • niice

  • hmm, I think that they're pretty bad...

    (awaits bombardment of criticism)

is all about simplicity/symmetry i think

I guess they could look good

  • Ah, but at BLB they'll be something like >£200 I'm sure

  • they'll charge you a pound to look at them...

  • ^Ha!

Out of interest, what size rings are they getting in?

  • NFI, sorry. It's a test batch so, I'm guessing 48T?

  • I see. What do you mean a test batch? They've been around for years. Or you mean that they're testing the consumer to see if they can sell them? Therefore probably adding an extra 15/20% to the price

  • Pauls only usually come in black ring, so the test batch is to really only test the fact that a polished / silver finish will come out ok. Bit like the paul levers that BLB get in - rather than the normal black / silver, they're all silver.

  • heh heh heh.
its all about getting them sent to a friend who sends them to you.
    heh heh heh.
(might eventually have a set for sale at some point later in the summer- don't know yet)

  • they look nice & nickable

  • Looks like a wrought iron gate!

  • I've seen silver before.

  • I've seen silver before.

  • Hi HO!

  • hmm, I think that they're pretty bad...

these are a work of art, i've handled a black set and truly the workmanship is phenomenal!!

  • Anyone know if these have landed on these shores yet? I've never even seen them on eGay for inflated prices

    want

  • paul's crank is overated . . .

    sugino 75 all the way

  • flickwg has a pair on frankenbike2

  • 185 a shot for the all black ones

and you guys probably never realize how the whole custom duty/shipping/taxes work will you???which affects the price in the shop???

  • yes, which is why i sold them to flickwg ;)

  • Does anyone know what BB will give a decent chainline with Phil hub and cog?

  • [a] Paul Chainset with 46T @ Freshtripe for £155 and [b] Recommended BB is a Campy 111mm

The Paul chainset gives a 45mm chainline, i believe.....with the Campy BB.....so supposedly.....as Phil hubs have a chainline of c42mm.....You would need [knocking off 2mm of axle lenth for 1mm of chainline...if my maths are correct]....an axle of 105-107mm...so perhaps a Phil BB is your best bet and then fine tune it......but this is only an educated at best guess.
