I want to track down this cab driver. I'm not 100% sure on the last three letters but I'm pretty sure he's C60 --- (Dale can you remember?).
Basically this bloke's a psycho - dangerous to any cyclist.
His beef was with me passing on the inside along stationary traffic. (It's my understanding that they highway code now allows this? Please let me know if not).
Once he'd caught up and passed I caught him again at a light. I commented that he passed me too close and his response confirmed my suspicion that he did it intentionally to put the shits up me. He said that I shouldn't undertake, people overtake on the outside etc. etc. etc. (The stretch of road - George St - has parked cars either side so is too narrow to filter down the middle- you'd go directly into oncoming traffic).
When I reciprocated by cycling in the middle of the lane in front of him i.e. giving parked cars enough space not to open doors on me (nor him to get round me without going onto the other side of the road), he accelerated around me at the nearest opportunity and tried to drive me into the pavement. He hit both my shoe / pedal and my handlebar - but fortunately I didn't go down.
The passengers in the back of his cab were visibly distressed and gestured to me that they were taking his details. I didn't have a phone or pen to hand so couldn't.
This guy had a real "Falling Down" moment. Someone who earns their living driving on the roads of London cannot be going round in this state of mind. He was gibbering on about having had enough of 'you lot' and that he just didn't care any more, didn't care if he killed me.
I genuinely think he's dangerous and will take it out on the next cyclist that transgresses from his understanding of the laws of the road.
If anyone knows how I can trace a cab driver with these sketchy details I have please PM me. If you could keep an eye out for this plate - it's quite distinctive and looks private - I'd really appreciate it. If anyone can get his badge number, I owe you a drink.
