but there are no laws for pedestrains, you have to give way to them, whenever and wherever they step into the road. (not sure about motorways, but it's not relevent to cycles)
so actually, you talk about court and blame, but you would be in the wrong for hitting a ped even if it's their fault.
I'm sure once you become a more experienced cyclist you'll understand these things better, at the moment you're still suckling on the distended teat of uncertainty.
