  • fu(k teddy... i thought your mercian got nicked.

  • no that baby never gets left anywhere without at least two locks on it...

  • Its not the lock, its how you use it...

    saraggina hahaha clever girl :D

  • I tried Brick Lane on the Saturday, but with the train line works there was not a bike market to be seen.[/quote]

The market is Sunday not Saturday

  • remember it's not just a question of what lock you should get, but also a question of where and how you lock your bike.

gotta say i seen a few dumb people how they lock there bikes . . .
but i mostly lock my back wheel and down tube bit . . .

im sure guys on here know how to lock there bikes and with good locks aswell . . .
right now i got the abus granit x plus but its soooo big . . .

  • Either someone's desperate to turn their Genesis Flyer into a low pro (complete with curvy seat tube) or some tink has had a right go at using the frame as a lever to prize the lock off this bike. What a cunt.

  • this is a joke man . . .
and in another topic its best to jus lock your back wheel in the frame bit ? ? ?

  • I'll start a new thread in a few days giving details of the GPS cylce tracker which evolved as an offshoot of my dog tracking collars at www.pawtrax.co.uk

It is smaller than a matchbox, hidden under saddle, 4 days battery life. GPS can be switched off remotely to increase this. Its waterproof and vibration proof. You can easily set up a 'geo-fence' around the cycle and if it is moved outside this area you will receive an sms on your mobile alerting you and presenting you with a map and location and more.

Cost will be under £200 with NO ONGOING MONTHLY CHARGES

I would welcome you emails/PM expressing an interest. info@pawtrax.co.uk

  • well, whoever locks the world champion banded lo-pro outside pain quotidian in soho, you wanna put the lock through the back wheel, or someone might take a fancy to your wheels.

  • this is a joke man . . .

    yes, sound frightening and vulnerable, but it's another method of locking the bike really, here's an article by the late Sheldon Brown;

  • Anyone lost a black Soma with pink/purple graphics single speed?

  • HELP!!! My bike was stolen in Dalston on Friday night before 2am from within a secure area.
It's a very unique bike. It's a Fort Aero track bike... with the special edition paint job from about 7 years ago. The paint job is a red-white& Blue stars and stripes american flag, flame paint job. You can't miss it. Bull horn handle bars, crappy saddle and post, Attack pedals, and Miche components all over. It also had the SKK 'fake' carbon fiber mud guards on it. I'll try to post a picture of it in the next day or so. But in the mean time, please please PLEASE keep an eye out. It's my only mode of transit. my mobile is 07985 680 467. if you see it, please ring.

  • HELP!!! My bike was stolen in Dalston on Friday night before 2am from within a secure area.

doesn't sound very secure to me.

will look out for this piece of blingery though.

  • Man 90% of the bikes nicked from London seem to get nicked from Dalston. What a fucking shit hole. Glad I got out of that area with my life (just)

  • mike, this is because the focus of hipsterism is just down the road, and the market a little bit to the left

  • not just bike theft though Rik
Lived in London 36 years and 3 of those were spent in Dalston. Suffered more violence, theft, burglary and general madness in those 3 than any of the other years put together.

  • You cant polish a turd . . . Dalston is a shithole, and no amount of hipster gloss can change that . . many a night of a mispent youth was had in the warehouses round Tyson street in the mid ninenties, and i dont think i ever came back without someone in my crew getting fucked over/up.

Hope you get your bike back, will keep my eyes peeled.

  • Tourists, the lot of you. Dalston's wicked. Never had anything bad happen to me in 24 years of habitation.

  • Yeah Dalstons fun, always crazy shit going on, Spent many a night out round there and never had any bother.

  • Since I live in London I have always live in Hackney/Dalston.
    I like it too
This does not mean that 90% of nicked in London are nick in Dalston area, more or less.

  • Huh?

  • I would guess that 90% of fixed gears nicked in London are from that part of town because 95% of fixed gear bikes in London live down there, rather than because it is a crime hotspot. Shitloads of MTB's and road bike disappear daily round here (Fulham).

Anyway i'm a posh boy from west London so i get a rash if i venture anywhere east of Buckingham Palace .

  • It's not a fixed and it's not in London, but I don't know where else to go with this so...

Came downstairs this morning to find my GT Zaskar gone. Built it from the ground up and had just got some new forks and a disc brake for it.

They actually tried to take my Mercian too, but because it doesn't have a BB or cranks in at the moment (thanks Singletrack bikes!) they abandoned it on the corner at the bottom of my road.

GT Zaskar 16” Ball Burnished alu frame
Marzocchi 1 SL 160mm travel forks - grey
Avid Juicy 5 disc brakes with 185mm rotor
Atomlabs GI front wheel with disc mount - grey
Mavic D521 rim laced to Shimano XT rear hub
    Truvativ cranks - black
    DMR Chain Guide
X-Lite DH riser bars – black

I live in Aylesbury (Bucks) so it's just outside of London, but if anyone sees the bike in town or being sold somewhere, I'd be really grateful if they could let me know.

It's really disinctive - both because of the long travel forks on a hardtail frame, and because none of it is stock. I was going to head up to Aston Hill (local DH spot) to try out the new forks and disc this evening. Suffice to say, I'm absolutely gutted.

  • ^ i'm assuming you've posted this on STW, Bikeradar etc.

    Sorry for your loss :(

  • 160mm forks on a zaskar! bloody hell, that would have been a bitch to move!

    hope you find it anyway
