  • Some of my magazine industry friends are launching a bike magazine next tuesday at the Rugby Tavern, off Lambs Conduit St and Theobalds road, Clerkenwell.
It's just a low key event with friends but you're welcome to pass by for a pint or two.

There is a temporary slide show on their website. Seems to me like a nice project, non-fixed exclusive clearly.

  • Yorgo, who's behind this mag?

  • Nice photographs on the site.
    Good mix too.

  • I'm liking. The spirit of cycling is a great thing to capture. That and the wanderlust.

  • Nice,

Has the feel of the collective films in print form.

    Chris

  • Winspar and Caston will be there having a pint or two....

  • Same night as central drinks - and just round the corner too...

  • Yorgo, you don't do low key.

  • FYI I'm not involved in this at all- they asked me to contribute a few months ago, I forgot and missed it for this issue.
One of the guys doing this is Andrew Diprose, art director of GQ. I heard about it from Marcus Ross, fashion editor at Vice. I don't know who else is involved...

  • I met Andrew once, sold him a wheel, Lovely guy. I think I see his brother on a fixed Mercian on Euston road sometimes, at least i think it's the one that was on FGG ages ago. What this has to do with anything i don't know.

I'm sure it will be a good read and cover all bases. Do they accept submissions?

    Chris

  • Where will it be available?

  • Hello all,
yep Andrew and I are 2 of the guys behind it (and yep thats my Mercian that can be seen about town) along with 2 mates Dean and another Phil.

The journal is our stab at captruring the soul of cycling. Sod the reviews and route guides, we're about passion in riding, whatever bike its on. We're track, mountain bike, bmx, road, commuting, racing, free-ride. As long as people have a love for bikes then we're interested.

This is issue one and it will be available from the website
www.theridejournal.com when its made (some time very soon).

Or you in towners can get it from Condor, Howies shop or even the Paul Smith shop.
    And the design is killer.
Normally I wouldnt like to give my brother any props, but he's got this looking like no other bike publication Ive seen.

£7 gets you almost 150 pages of which only 7 are adverts.
Or come along and get it for £5 and say hello on the night.

any questions or submission ideas get in touch at theridejournal@hotmail.co.uk
    cheers
    Philip Diprose

  • Looks good I like the broad appeal.

  • ah the diprose boys :-)
if i said love/hate/dialled/photographer then you will know who i am.

don't think i can make the drinks as i'm real busy but will be in touch at some point (have a look at my website (in my profile))

  • Well hey!
Pity you can't make it in 'MrSmith'

    :>)

    How are you going?

  • BTW

    Lovely work on your site.
Hmmm, not just about getting muddy 'eh!

  • Bump.

    Anyone? Anyone? Bu...

  • i'm going then pasta, then central drinks. yeah baby

  • I'll be down, launch, possibly food, possibly central drinks

  • if your down for pasta put your name on the list in the central beers thread, i will ring around 5 and make a booking for around 7.30-8

  • I'm in Lisbon!

  • Great mag! Good turnout too. Didn't get to say hi to everyone - had to get off before light failed.

Yorgo, your carbon footprint must be MASSIVE.

  • this is a damn nice magazine. pick it up if you see it about. well done, boys.
