i think he means that if both sides unscrewed forwards then the driveside unscrewed clockwise and the left side unscrewed anti-clockwise, ergo, ISO.
I'm no expert on chainlines, I lucked out with my peugeot. It was an old 10 speed therefore with two chainrings. This meant the right side of the BB axle came out further than the left, this made a single chainring sit too far out. I flipped the axle over and the shorter side, now on the right just happened to give me perfect chainline.
