    from a framebuilders POV, that bike is nothing exciting and poorly designed. It has a very steep seat tube angle, even steeper headtube angle and minimal rake (which is the highlight of the build, because it quite possibly matches the headtube angle to give the bike a proper "trail" measurement) and as far as I can tell, it doesnt have just toe clip overlap, it looks like its more pedal overlap. The wheelbase is too short and imho, that bike is too unstable at high speeds. The lugs are a stock lug for that set of tubes, however, the shorelines look ok.

    And he's Scottish/American so he's obviously got no style or taste

  • i used to work for a very large dealer of those rohloff hubs.. very nice but pricey..around £700...and they fit them into heavy touring bikes so its like riding a train.

    anyone seen the cannondale badboy rohloff? mmmm

  • I'm putting a Rohloff onto my next bike. Pricey yes, but I think the pro's outweigh the few con's that exist (price, weight distribution).

  • I don't think that it was suggested toe overlap was the only problem with that frame.
    Bikes have to be made as experiments sometimes - that is a *really *tight frame.

    Why on earth do you need valves that long?

    And he's laced up the wheel wrong to have put the valves (rim alignment) in that position.

  • DW is right. That bike might be fun for about 5 minutes, but it is unrideable and impractical. Extremely short wheelbase + hardly any fork rake = way too twitchy. His hands will be in front of the front hub, his legs directly above the BB.

    Overdone it to the point of no longer being fit for purpose. I doubt he could scratch the back of his head if he tried.

    The pedal overlap is only one of the design flaws on this bike. If this bikes purpose was to be a match sprint bike, then the designer really missed the mark. Match sprinters often need to turn the bars at slow speeds while jockeying for position.

    Again, the wheelbase on that bike is way too tight to be effective for any track event I am aware of....

    I don't think it looks that different in the angles compared to other trackbikes, but we can all agree that it was build up pretty poorly (laced up wrong wheels, and the valves being long, and the cranks look really long as well)

    The angles look a bit more aggressive due to the photo not being horizontal.
    Top tube looks to be a bit short and with longer cranks (175mm perhaps) overlap will get worse. Overlap is not (that big) a problem on the streets as long as you're used to it, and I don't see it being a problem on the track.
