  • You are a big baby.

  • God, I love my Salmon's. Form AND function, yeah baby.

  • You are a big baby.

i know you are but what am i?

  • badtmy's mum smells of wee.

  • my mum smells of badtmy.

    .

  • badtmy's bum smells of my mum's wee.

  • HTFU.

Mudguards rule. I was about 18 months old when I started making signals to my mum that I'd had enough of my arse being soggy. I've no intention of regressing.

    :D

  • thinking face

  • Race blades are on now and so were the waterproofs this morning. Dry trip to work.

  • if you use your bike for work, and dont intend on using the clothes you rode the bike with, mudguards are the way.

this one would leave your trousers dirty. ^^

  • i had a sks rear good but be warned myne left marks/scratches on my frame

i made myself one of these a while back... got the styrene, plastic weld, nylon bolt and woop di woop youre there... it works a treat.

  • not much point in me gettin one now... the bastard kids in the lower years of my college rip em off. Thats not what playtime is for!

  • Sorry tangent, Does anyone know where to get Salmon mud gaurds in the UK?
    H

  • SKS raceblades are OK. The no-name clones are rubbish, though.

Dont really agree. On my Giant i have Giants version of them. Which are cheaper then proper race blades, and are still good. A bitch to fit on the bike, but one you have the little screws in place i can fit mine back on when it rains in about 5mins.

    Here and Here
Heres the Giant with them on(ok a geared bike). They arent bad, but when you go down roads with standing water on, it goes all down you leg and into your shoes.

  • it's just started raining and that made me think...what are people doing for the winter months? Soon mudguards will be in order but i'm not sure what ones to get, has anyone got any advice?

  • waterproof trousers

  • Are waterproof trousers in with the hipsters then?

How about a hearty old dose of HTFU?

  • Htfu?

  • there aren't many new options compared to last year.. have a look at the older mudguard threads.
'Raceblades' are a bit ££s, but good and easily removable. if you have clearance for full guards go for SKS / honzo etc..

  • Sks ftw

  • +1 sks

  • SKS. There's hardly anything else out there. Salmon Super Profils are lovely, made of alu and flat section, not curved. But they're a shit to get hold of, and install. ww.mudguardman.co.uk There's no info about them on the site any more, and you have to telephone the guy to get them - he's a luddite, and pay by cheque (remember those?)

If you don't have mudguard eyes, don't bother. Just put an empty coke bottle in between your seat stays, its all the rage.

  • also not wanting to start a new thread, are 155mm cranks going to be too short. I scared myself the other day taking a corner too sharply and scraping my 170s on the ground at speed so want to go shorter and need new cranks. I've seen these http://www.alansbmx.com/product_info.php?cPath=38_92&products_id=1146 . anyone have any experience with this too?

Yeah i used them when i was racing at 6-12years old!!They are used by all the compaines producing 'minis' for junior racers, kind of up to 12yr olds.
Would no like to claim they are good or bad, just that they are mainly used on kids race bikes!
Plenty strong enough at that age, and i may have seen some riders using them at older age groups, so could be ok to use.
Might even have some still knocking around at home.
