You can still buy absinthe in France, my favourite is Un Emile 68, beautiful drop... They banned the wormwood is all (which AFAIK was only used in the cheap crap that made everyone wacko back in the day) and then came up with pastis... None of that snot-coloured, quasi-absinthe Czech muck for me, no sir... Pastis is awesome, I prefer 51 to Ricard, a little more complex on the palette...
