My girlfriends brother (anarchic adjustment) and his mates, rode their bmx's on the stage with the Beastie Boys in '87!
They were asked to put on a show for the whole London gig! -

It's a great logo - I wonder if the enduring appeal of the band has anything to do with this?
Nostalgia eh. Not what it used to be...

isnt the logo meant to be someone waving the black flag? or is that just some bs from wikipedia?

Looks like a flapping flag to me.

It is a black flag... :)
yeah, but the 4 blocks are meant to be it moving, as in flapping, a bit like other pictures of the black flag...
see the way it looks like its waving, i think the way that the black flag band logo shows motion is related to the motion in this one. -

Husker Du's first "Album" was land speed record, they played the main stage of Glastonbury in 1987, middle of Friday afternoon, finished with "Ticket to ride". Back in the days of dogs on site, park your truck and camp, tattooed faces. Eavisi's Dickensian vibe. I believe the tickets had a face value of twenty pounds although by no means compulsory.
As for Black Flag, I'm pretty sure their first UK gig was supporting the Exploited at the Rainbow, Finsbury park round about 1981. Hawaiian shirts, sneakers and buzz cuts. Half a second gap between tunes. All the soaped up Mohawks totally confused. It kicked of as the Jam were playing the Sobel Sports center round the corner and the Exploited's last song was "fuck the mods" Nice.
I hope that's not to much information.
