• Hey Guys,

Was happily riding along today when, during braking, i felt my lock-ring go. I was only 300m from home so i though i would shunt the sprocket back into place by pedaling forward and get home to tighten it up... bit mistake. Straight away there was no catch between the sprocket and hub.
When i get home i took it apart to find the chain ring and hub stripped of their threads... i dont know why this should happen just pedaling forward because surely there would be no more tension on the thread than normal, but there we go. Here is the result...

Now i'm riding on the freewheel, which isn't fun.

So I went along to the local shop and they said that it would be £70 for spokes, hub and labour. For that money i may as well buy a second hand wheel in good nick since the wheel itself probably isn't even worth that much. Anyone got anything going spare? If not would settle for a cheap hub/ spokes to do it myself (how hard can it be, he says).

    Cheers Guys, Jim
