It looks really nice but I hope you don't end up one of the many guys on here who build these amazing bikes for their girls and they just NEVER ride them...

that's brilliant, peugeot are always a great bike for for starter, it's singlespeed right? not fixed?
-

Odd question but what bottom bracket did you use? I've got an old Pug of similar vintage and having trouble sourcing a bottom bracket for it, seems the be French threaded from what I can tell.

Yep its the origonal bottem bracket the french one, Paul at Kiwi cleaned it up added new Bb etc... I reckon she will probably ride it once in a while (gggrrrrr) but yep single speed... I promised as a present (she hasent got it yet) that I would make her a bike (she has a brompton that as she travels accross the globe all the time she takes with her) for her birthday and the only spec she had was she wanted a peugeot as its what her dad used to ride... So thanks to Jon got a small frame, also I think thats a pretty nice idea..
So thats it.. (im not kdding myself I needed help) but im glad with the outcome.. -

Good stuff.... my old frame's looking really good! Well better than it was when my girl rode it - It had all shitty Langster parts!
So it was a French BB then.... did u replace it or just get it nicely cleaned?

I recognise those wheels.
Bombproof. Except for the rear threading ;) They came off my Bob Jackson.
They were built by Ergott of Ergott Wheels fame... Google him. -

Why on earth would you expect your girl to ride a bike that you wouldn't want to?
Don't buy someone you care for a piece of shit because you expect them not to ride it... but them something that you would want to ride because you expect them to ride it and you know that if that were you you'd want as sweet a ride as you could get.
My girl has put serious miles in on hers and uses it daily. Worth every penny. I doubt she would've gone for it if I'd given her something that didn't rival mine.

Nice bike. Now all you need to do is stamp hjh 001 on the bottom and sell it for 500 quid on ebay...

If anyone needs french bottom brackets let me know.
I know an old bike shop with a box full of good quality SKS ones which they will never sell.
I could bulk buy th boxful if theres enough interest on here?

Oh and by the way,
the pug looks superb.
I think the kooky levers/grips make it look strangeley "tech"
Your right that it makes you wanna jump on, I really want to ride that...
But since when do girls like brooks saddles?
-
• #18
Thanks guys, Im pretty pleased with it to be honest, i was thinking white grips but then went with the tape instead, she can always change it... Also I would ideally put gaurds on it, like the old fashioned ones, but..But have run out of money (serously).... Its far to small for me but rode it round the block the other day and its so smooth....

Does anyone know if Le Jeune bikes are French threaded?
If so, I might be interested in a BB for my pub bike, skeletonboy.

I got a couple of excellent hand-made wooden mudguard here if you fancy some for a few nickles, it go well with the brooks saddle and grip;

They are pretty neat, but am skint, in theory though how much are them?
-
• #25
They look like Fastboy Fenders, a coupla guys down at Brixton Cycles are knocking out their own wooden mudguards, might be worth a try...
So what you think, I have to thank Keith, Jon, Kiwi Cycles and Clefty and my parents etc... The brakes do look a bit wierd but so it goes.... H
