  • Japanese guys i went for a ride with weren't really into keirin bikes, more chunky alu frames like cinellis so dont know about '2 a penny'. not that it really matters how many there are anyway. get a bike because you love to ride it, not because it gets its photo taken... gambatte

  • Point taken about loving to ride it first, although I suspect that many people buying NJS-bikes in London have a smidgeon of "image" in mind when they make the purchase. Anyhow, ganbarimasu.

  • If you really like the Cinelli I think you should buy one
    sure it costs a bit
but if you ever leave Japan you will get your money back selling it
and then you can go buy yourself a Mercian or summit similiar
In the meantime I reckon you ought to fix us lot up with some Kierin frames
Make a few bob towards that Cinelli
    no-wot-I-meen

  • I've contacted the shop in Italy wear I got my Cinelli road bike from to see how much they'll do me a Supercorsa Pista frame/fork set. As I'm outside the EU, they'll lop off the VAT. So maybe I'm edging in that direction.

I'm keeping an eye out for reasonable keirin frames on Yahoo auctions but, as mentioned earlier, anything NJS-approved is pretty pricey.

  • In the end I went for a Tommasini Tecno road bike, which I think is nice enough. It just arrived and I haven't even had time to take it out yet. For commuting I've still got my Pearson fixed.

  • Nice but a bit retro for me. Reminds me of a Holdsworth. Still it should be about the ride and how it fits you.

  • Yeah, I'm still choked up by the level,....I know which I would have headed for. Still, 'least you're riding.
