  • i'm pretty much set for getting my frame resprayed at armourtex, however i've run into a last minute unforeseen difficulty and i'm sure that someone on here will have some useful advice. basically, i realised i didn't know what to do to try and get the cups off the front part of the frame, where the forks go. so, i went to the LBS for advice and they said you need a special tool to take them off, and another one to put them back on again, and that they'd do it for me for £5 a shot. which basically means that the cost of repainting my bike has increased by a tenner, but there are two bikes that i was going to do, so it's actually gone up by 20 quid.

hence, i wondered if anyone has any advice about another way to do it [e.g. using a screwdriver], or if the bike shop is being unreasonable and i should try and bargain with them (or go somewhere else). or - the other thought - is it absolutely essential to take them off for the paint job?

along the same lines, i have a query about how to get the lemond logo off the front. it would be nice to have the option of putting it back on again afterwards, so i don't want to just rip it off and break all the plastic (?? not sure it is plastic, actually) but i can't figure out how it's attached.

i've included a picture with this post to show the two cups (black) on the top and bottom, and also the logo bit. sorry for complete lack of accurate technical language: i'm afraid i still don't know enough yet to provide all that detail! and, thanks in advance for any help.
