• My colleague lives in Epping and commutes to High St Ken, something like 27 stops on the Central line.

We are having a poker game at his house after work in a couple of weeks (probably Thursday 26th June) and I have challenged him to a race - his commute versus me on a bike.

Google maps tells me that it is 22 miles which makes me think that I have very little chance, as his normal journey time is an hour and a quarter. But, hoping for delays on the tubes etc, it might be possible.

What I am after is thoughts on the fastest route. It will probably be at about 6pm, so traffic will be predictably poo. My first thought is to get onto the embankment, go round to Tower Bridge, Bethnal Green, Mare St, Hackney, Lea bridge Rd.

Any and all suggestions welcome, perhaps the A406 would be an idea?

Also, it would improve my chances if we could get a peloton together (maybe with rolling changes as I hit people's commutes?) any takers?

BTW, I'll be on gears for this for sure.
