By the way, it may be boring, but the FASTEST I've ever ridden, was from Hammersmith Roundabout to Peckham High Street. I was racing a car, and the person in it worked for me. She said bikes were stupid, and a car was always faster. I said, in London, a bike is faster. Now, we're both competitive so we decided to race. She was in her little Renault, and I was on my all-Miche/Campy beater. My time to Peckham? 30 minutes, or just under. I lost, by less than 15 seconds. My legs were so pumped and gorged with blood, I could not turn one more revolution of my cranks. I walked home to Third Avenue off the Harrow Road, feeling still chuffed that I almost beat a car, with the driver properly racing, determined not to lose.
Post time. Race* (see addendum below). Or, take in the sights. Its all good.
*BringMeMyFix has made me see how idiotic that last part was. So please DON'T race in London, and risk your health and safety. He's right; I shouldn't have included that. I won't delete it, so people know that I responded to his advice.
