If you have the money get Phils, you won't be sorry.

you will be if the wheel/s got stolen, to some it like losing a whole bike, as lovely and gorgeous those Phils are, I'm still worried about it getting stolen easily, and slighty annoyed that I have to constantly locked the wheel/s everytime i want to lock the bike.

man, i've bought a few track frames for under £100 ;)
-
• #11
ah, you fail. it's not a £10 "Custom built Reynolds 531" innit
-
• #12
the fact that almost all older frames were made to custom spec, means nothing!?
-
• #13
haha...i know, was goin to point that out. technically, the 'custom' bit only applies to the original owner.

erm, phils on a £10 frame????
then remembers the fact that he is a newbie
phewFrom http://www.veloworks.com/roncooper/cooper1976.html :
"I think the Ron Cooper can be viewed in the same way that many people view a Rolls Royce or a Mercedes—as a machine good enough and durable enough to be worth keeping indefinitely. I can easily imagine keeping a Ron Cooper 10 or 20 years and still being as pleased with it as when it was new."
I efffing hate Rollers

• #15
OK so 50 quid then? ;)
Looks like a nice frame, but phils and campy record on any conversion seems a bit rich?
Out of curiosity why did you go road rather than track?

The Hipster effect?

• #17
Dale, please look up Ron Cooper.
I believe you will retract your comments.
-
• #18
phils or campag on a conversion!!
-
• #19
Period Campy, yea. I would even use a strada chainset, front and rear brakes, and gasp road hubs with the rear respaced. 4 steps away from being un-converted.
Phils... a little over the top but at least he'll have them for later frames.
I was watching that frame, I really want a Ron Cooper eventually.

• #20
Oh, and full mudguards as well!

phils or campag on a conversion!!
if he's not riding it at the track then he doesn't need a track bike.

track: made for velodrome boards
road: um... made for roads
Firstly, newbie, so be nice ;-)
Mrs S has just called to say that the postman has delivered a big rectangular cardboard box!!!
My first fixie project, straight from the online flea market:
Custom built Reynolds 531, 126mm rear spacing
Think I'm going to have to duck out early today - "meeting in the west end...." kinda thing.
Decisions, decisions, decisions. Period Campag record? Gearing ratios? 120 track hub and a good ol squeeze? Phils 126 large flange?
I'm the proverbial child in a sweetshop.
So excited, I just had to share it with someone.
