It's all part of the psych games preceding the Olympics; CB did those interviews about how only three people in the world know what the final spec of British Olympic bike and kit will be. Everything new except the pedals shoes cogs and chains.

yeah i seen that, it was either in the guardian or the telegraph, making out like they were building a nasa space rocket or something. He actually said that most of the components had already been developed and used in races already, 'under the radar', just so that if the olympic judges had a problem with something, they could state that it had already been approved before. i dont think there's going to be anything groundbreaking, just lots of little changes all round.

i suppose the finals are decided sometimes by 1/1000's of a second but come on new everything surely just smoother rolling bearing in wheels and bottom bracket would suffice ? put and extra 0.1 bar in the tyres surely not too much more can be whittled off that all black british bike they used in the worlds in manchester there wasn't a huge amount of spare flab on that bike ? what will they remove next saddle / downtubes ?

Aerodynamics are more important than weight. I'm sure they are just talking about tweaking the shape of the frame to be more aero or adjust it to get the rider more aero. Everything is carbon so it's a big shaping, tunnel testing, measuring exercise all without adding any flex or breaking any rules.
