I think the idea is goood, but this specific design has little merit.. generally what windy said above.
Making a new bike look nasty is not difficult, but one must switch off their aesthetic sensibilites and be sure to fit a rack / mudguards / stickers / ribbons / inner tubes / gaffer tape / reflectors everywhere / as many bottle cages as possible etc.. there are ideas out there if you google.
I think that using technology rather than mechanical devices is the future for bicycles. If cars, motorbikes can have electronic tagging, immobilisers, and GPS, then as it becomes affordable t will reach bicycles.
Look at the thread on GPS / stun-gun security for bicycles. I would choose that hi-tech stuff over the ideas here (in addition to normal locks.)
Imagine being able to remotely taser someone who you have tracked down and is riding your bike at that second. how friggin cool is that!? then just crush their head against the ground and urinate on them pick up the bike and walk away whilst they have a little twitch-attack on the ground...
