  • I reckon a username like ParamedicBiker (whether it's fact or fiction) will get you a sort of immunity from the flames, and rightly so.

Doubt the same respect would go out to PlodRider though...

  • tis true i am a paramedic and cycle. new to cycling tho!

  • thems the pitchforks i was speaking of.

ETO11 are you guys not trying to promote fixed / single riding instead of shooting a newbie down in flames??

    HTFU

ParamedicBiker oh hello all - new to forum!

welcome, grab a pitchfork or run from the angry mob.

  • without making any representations as to "cool", "retro" or even "commuter", I'm selling a Genesis Flyer 56cm if you're interested in it - should suit someone 5'10ish as it's too small for my 6'3" person. Send me an email via the forum if interested. (I would have used a pm but this forum seems to lack that feature?)

  • DO you have any pictures?

  • Prav... haven't you got like 5 different bikes already?

  • ^ for a friend.

just taken one now. give me 5 mins to put it on flickr. it's pretty much brand new - bought a month ago, and I've been away two of those weeks. goes in to OnYourBike for it's one month warranty svc on Thursday.

See: DSC00530 on Flickr - Photo Sharing!@@AMEPARAM@@http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3111/2548649192_8016c2feac.jpg?v=0@@AMEPARAM@@2548649192@@AMEPARAM@@8016c2feac It's as per stock, except the seatpost is a longer Bontrager one instead of the faux-carbon original. If you insist I can leave the bottle cage :-)

  • @ et011 don't be upset by these chaps they'll post a few funnies have a little dig but it is well worth hanging on in there !!

have a look at other posts before you leave the forum for ever we are a nice bunch and we will be able to help out with any queries you might have events rides etc

that gazelle would be a sweet machine if you could get it. they make great frames i had one myself and loved it nice ride you wouldn't go far wrong with that bike upgrade any bits you don't like over the course of time

  • et011: some real, genuine, completely comedy free advice -

First of all, the search function is your friend :) typing in OTP will bring up loads of stuff.

for about £500, that gazelle is excellent, if you don't mind taking the plunge and going fixed. I've bought from forum members several times and have never been disappointed.

If you really really really want to buy new - for £500 go for a pearson touche (google it) or a genesis flyer. Both get positive reviews and are good value for money.

You might want to stretch your budget - look at felt TK2, or Fuji Track Pro - both are very beautiful (track) bikes (ie fixed wheel, which you'd need to buy brakes for)

    Hope this helps.

Don't be put off by the humour - it's just that every single day someone asks us the same question - it's difficult to be helpful all the time. :)

It's even better value when it's 350 quid for a good-as-new one month old Genesis Flyer from your fellow forum member... :-)

  • it's a good deal and a nice bike

    someone buy the fucking thing

  • someone buy the fucking thing

don't tell me what to do.

  • buy the fucking bike, tommy.
