  • Isn't the point to try and find out whether the bike you saw belongs to someone on the forum so that you can cheerily say hello next time you pass by them? If not, then I apologise, but I quite enjoy being able to put a name to a bike to a forum username.

Sounds like I missed the point though (not the first time!).

and it worked this morning... got an "Oi ! ShoottheBreeze ?" thrown my way at a set of lights by Tomasito, who I had never met until then... Nice to finally meet you... and well done for saying hello without knowing me. See you at the Bridges ride (if not b4 somewhere rd. Church St.p'haps)

  • Totally fair enough - actually i'm usually okay, but when it's one of those blue sticker guys (and that would be about 80% of my near-death experiences) then I do get really fucking angry because they’ve done it to me so many times.

What is it about them that makes them so much worse than anyone else who drives on the road for a living? I would love to know. They come at the top of my list of road users to fear. It goes something like:

    1 – blue sticker cunts
    2 – scaffolding trucks
    3 – white vans
    4 – cement mixers
5 – those transit vans with the open cage backs that collect rubbish from bins

And so on and so on….

You are missing one very serious offender from the list. The post van drivers. Especially at around 5 which coincides nicely with the rush hour and people leaving work. I have never known one of those drivers not to be stoned. I am certain its a prerequisite for the job. Heres your van, heres your uniform and heres an ounce of skunk. Now go get them

  • mongrel - don't forget postie vans. They are DREADFUL at driving. Farringdon rd going up towards kings x, where it passes the mount pleasant postie depot - nearly been killed plenty of times round there.

  • mikec: word! haha

  • vic this morning on old street, possibly dealing with a mechanical. sorry didn't stop to help but by the time it had registered with my sleepy brain i was already moving on.

Yeah, was great to meet you (and your hot bike!) and to have a chat as we rolled through Holborn. Nice bag too - is that stitching home made?
My first successful random forumenger greeting!

    Fact.

  • okay okay that was a shoocking omission. They still only go in behind scaffloding vans...

  • mikec: word! haha

    lol beat you too it!

  • I just mean to emphasise the death trap that is mount pleasant. I go up and down roseberry avenue each day and it is rare that I don't encounter a red postie van driving like a tit. Worse than minicabs and bendy buses

  • whit frame, white arrospok, gave me the hipster look of death, camden weekend, i was happy as a bunny

Yeah jonny - you and the rest of the world, you all just keep movin' on dontcha... :P !Seriously though no fucker ever stopped the whole 20 minutes I was there!

Damn puncture - I had everything with me except a spanner, and even when I borrowed a spanner from someone I realised I do my wheel nuts up far too tight cos I couldn't move either of the buggers. Had to take it to Evans where they changed it, and now I have a flat again. Pish!

  • wooo hooo finally spotted

Haha, no... really it's cool Jonny no worries! :D - I'm sure I've done the same at some point. I was suffering more from embarrassment at not carrying the right tools really - my own fault.

  • I left the house with my new trispoke tub, cycled round the block and then down to Oval and back, and not one of you twats saw me!! That's it. I'm leaving this forum forever.

  • Hello, so only 5 months late, but that must have been me. unless anyone else has a yellow islabikes?? Just browsing and stumbled across this. Remind me - what's your ride?
    Cheers

  • I think Aidan @ 12.45 on Rosebery Avenue. Wanted to say hi, but recognised you too late. Hi.

if this is directed at me (seem to remember spotting a yellow islabikes in Clapham a while back) then I'm on a green and purple Diamant, pink hubs, white rims.

Ye shall knowe the fear that wind bringeth, thy three fingered friend surely shall become a sail.

  • saw a bloke riding an black IRO with orange velocity rims, also sporting an orange messenger bag on Penton Road just near Pentonville Road at about 6pm.

  • Ye shall knowe the fear that wind bringeth, thy three fingered friend surely shall become a sail.

Wasn't that bad actually, although I was concentrating more on desperately trying to avoid any potential puncture-causing debris than the wind velocity.

Wind speed has been 3,4 and 5 this last couple of weeks, pretty calm, what I like to call 'Hed weather' - you wait until it returns to a more normal 8-12 - that's when the little gusts steer you into the oncoming traffic.

When you die - and if your Hed3 survives - can I have it - or were you thinking of making it into a grave stone ?
