Sleeping feet

Posted on
  • I was just wondering something, i have been using mtb spds on my road bike, and yesterday on my first 100k my feet started going to sleep, and cramping really badly.Would using road spds make a difference as the are bit bigger, its something i don't really know about!
if this is the case, are there any 'touring' based spds people would recommend.just bought new mtb shoes, and don't fancy buying another pair of shoes!

    cheers!

  • sounds like I.D.S. - Imminent Death Syndrome - to me.

  • only if i was still in london!but this was on a nice hilly 100 in the south of france!

  • it's probably more to do with cleat position, and/or the fit of the shoe.

maybe move the cleats a bit and don't do the shoes up so tight

  • ok, cool thanks, i did keep the straps quite loose.it was almost as if i had a 'hot spot' on the ball of my foot!

  • 'tis the shoes, not the cleats methinks

  • Use superglue!

  • Oh, sorry. Thought it said slipping feet :(

  • Put an old penny in your sock before you strap your sidi shoes on.

  • Could be a number of things. I get a hot right foot with my Sidi's when using Shitmano PD-520 MTB pedals, but not when using the same shoes with a set of classic Dura Ace SPD road pedals. Given up trying to find a medium between the two.

Did I just say that I had Shitmano on my Italian road bike??
