I found that it was pretty difficult to not just grab the brake lever as hard as possible in an emergency situation, which led to 2 accidents which could have been a lot worse than they were.
Since riding without a brake, the first instinct is to brake with the legs, which although doesn't have as much stopping power, means that no matter how hard you try you won't go over the handlebars (probably). Now that I ride with a brake again, by the time I actually relent and use it, I'll have either crashed, or scrubbed off enough speed to avoid crashing. In theory. :)
