you're gonna find it a lot easier to get a 700c wheel mate.
-
• #3
If that's the case, 700c will be just fine. I'll worry about the front later.
-

You could buy a 27" rim (ebay/sjs cycles) and lace it to a track hub...
-
• #5
I am considering this.
Found cheap on-one hub already, 15 quid.
Still it's worth asking, maybe somebody has a wheel that's not used anymore and is just lying there useless. -

now, i actually don;t know anything about on-one hubs and will likely be corrected but i was just at a mate's house and his 135mm on-one freewheel hub had a massive chainline - we worked it out at 54mm! (double checked any everything - to be honest it explained why his chain kept slipping). so... well... don;t really know what you're going to do with my piece of info as, i guess, you'll probably get a 120mm track hub and so you'll be fine with the chainline.

I will be getting the 120mm one if I don't find the wheel. The space is actually 126 mm but as someone suggested in my other thread, 120 will fit just fine if I squeeze the dropouts.
Actually I think I have the 120 mm hub with freewheel now. -

and if what you want is black, on-one make the same has zenith, what rebranded to is onw brand for £15
http://www.on-one-shop.co.uk/acatalog/Online_Catalogue_Rear_231.htmlAmbrosio, System X, Furmula, On-one, Zenith, IRO... are the same hub, make by the same Taiwan people, but rebranded for diferents companys.
There is a thread maybe 4 o 5 months old that speak about the best hub, and a lot of people say the this hubs are not bad at all. use the seach botton.

Thanks for the feedback guys.
I will be getting one of those, the price seems right and I don't do a lot of mileage commuting anyway so those should be fine.
Since my old wheel is all rusty and really nasty build (you can tell by the way spokes are cut ath the end (probably were too long), I probably wheel need a new rim, spokes and nipples.
You reckon i should change from 27" to 700c? -
• #11
700c for sure
27" is an old mesuare, I don't think you will find it easily -

27" rims are out there. And they're bigger!
sjscycles
spacycles I think have some
that vintage shop in oxfordshire, Vintage Bike Co or something like that.
ePay
put a wanted up on ctcThe options are limited, and the same for tyres.
Use 700s if the clearance isn't already too massive to use a long-drop brake. I had to use 27s on my Claud Butler for this reason.

I will be getting rid of the brakes so no problem with the reach for the pads.
I don't know if getting rid of all the brakes will be to radicl for the newbie so the fornt one is likely to stay with the 27" wheel there. -
• #14
So you've never ridden fixed, and already you've decided you're getting rid of the brakes? Please don't ride behind me.
-
• #15
Getting rid of the rear brake that is:)
-
• #17
I is confused...
-
• #18
Either way, I won't be riding in Central London anyway:)

ive got one,
buts its on my bike now - haha.
But I was thinking of buying an off the peg fixie and turning my 10speed, back into a ten speed.
In which case my fixed 27 wheel would be on sale.

Hi there. Looking for an affordable cheap 27 track rear wheel. Spacing 120.
Can be steel, can be old, I am trying to convert to single speed and would like to start with cheap conversion and then maybe upgrade if I like the experience.
Student budget so cost is most important at this point.
Thanks Guys!
Update. 700c wheel be just as good.
