I thought I'd drag this from an answer I gave in another thread. Basically, I was making a list of British frame builders, and realised that they're not just world class, but some are just downright exoticabiciclettasexia.
NOTE: I have been biased in enboldening the manufacturers that make traditional, fancy-lugged frames.
Arthur Caygill:
Frames in Reynolds 753, 853, Columbus, Extralight and Japanese 017 tubesets.
753 standard frame - cast lugs, seat cluster, fork crown, steel fork £699.00. Single colour.
Lug lining is extra. Curly lugs possible but expensive.
Ron Cooper: 6-8 week lead in.
Colour Tech, Maiden Lane Dartford DA1 4LX.
Rotrax (Tim Maund): 6 month lead in.
£430-£480 for the simplest frame,
£575 for a touring bike frame
TJ Cycles: Lead in approx 6 months.
Basic 531 (525) type track frame, approx £500.
Paul Villiers: 3-4 month lead in. [This frame-maker needs to learn the importance of good customer service]
All with some lugwork, and detailing.
531c type track frame £550,
651 type track frame £675,
