I spend to much on bikes.. and I dumpster lots of parts.. so it's kind of weird that I'd feel the need to spend that much :)
Yesterday I found a nice all new bike bag (one of those 3-part to put over the luggage rack) someone threw out.. nice, since I was just about to buy one of those :)

As much as I could justifiably afford then a little more. Then some more again.

500 quid for road bike, plus about 300 quids worth of upgrades.
60 quid for lovely old peuget 10 speed

it's not really so smart to ask a forum of bike geeks what's reasonable to spend on a bike. most of us have more than one bike, a lot of us have a few frames lying around that we're in the process of building up. spend what you can afford, keeping in mind that it's something that you'll use every day.
