  • Do i need pliers to put these on? Or are my fingers weak!

  • na, you gotta get one side on and push over the other bit with a screw driver.

  • that look like these:
    ?

easy, just use fingers, bend the chain abit and then pop!

to get them off- get a thin spanner and lever away

    Woo! 2,000th post!

  • isn't there also a split link to go with that???

  • these are the new type that just engage when you flex the link ;)

  • wouldn't trust it.

  • served me well thus far, quite hard to remove

  • wouldn't trust it.

i do, and hope nothing bad comes about.

  • The one eyebrows posted is like I got with a wippperman ( I think? ) just needs to flex as he said..
You also get ones with a slide-on plate, where you drop the second plate on then click it into place. the pin-holes are keyhole shaped + Pliers help a lot.
EDIT - bloody hell ollie - you still alive?

  • fair do's, i suppose running single/fixed there would be no sideways movement anyways.

*that's what i thought he had.

  • Cheers all, just weak fingers then, i'll battle on.
Yup, that is the one eyebrows.

  • i have one of those flexy links on my chain...no problems so far.they are a lot easier to use.

  • weird...

  • Sorted, i just had to flex the chain a bit. Will give it full tilt down to south ken tonight.

  • yeh just bend the chain horizontally and it will snap off, may fly odd though and go under a washing machine like mine did.

you have to bend it in a way not replicable by the motion of the chain whilst cycling so no worry about coming off.
