As a guide to "good average" times for an olympic distance race - around 25mins for the swim 1500m, 01:05 for the bike - 40k and 45min for the run - 10km
Zoinks! I can just about make a sub 50min 10k - that's without all the cycling and swimming before!
I did my first tri last year, a sprint (300m/20k/5k) and did 8:49, 48:34, 26:46 for an overall time of 1:23:56 - coming 153 out of 209. I guess I am old (44), riding a hybrid and I've never been fast (or first) at anything. In the main, I race to beat my own best times. Which is what I'll do in a couple of weeks when I do this race again. That's plenty of motivation for moi.
Next year I'd like to do an Olympic distance, but I can only think about a good time for me.
