The problem with own builds are every time you make a buying decision the next best decision is only a few pound$ away so you talk yourself into making the £20 leap up and then making another leap and before you know it getting a set of carbon bars that should have cost a ton has turned into buying some Cinelli Ram bars in white for £450.
As long as I can afford it, I'll continue to spend it. If you think you'll regret it then don't buy it but for me the difference is nearly always worth it.
