Stolen bike

  • hi there, long-time listener first-time caller;

    I had my bike nicked while i was in a club in wandsworth yesterday, so erm if anyone finds it for sale please don't buy it, as I will probably do something unspeakable to anyone I should see riding it, if they cant explain where it came from of course, or if by then I am more angry than shocked as I am now...

    its:
    a black dolan track frame 56cm with distinctive rub-marks on either side of the top-tube from my inner-thighs rubbing it.
    black brooks saddle, black kona seatpost, black mpart headset, black something-or-other stem, nitto persuit bars, with black tape, and a black brake lever, black carbon 'spider' fork, 105 brake, condor wheels chrome hubs/black+chrome annodised rims(all condor branded no-name stuff), 105 bb, stronglight 175cm cranks, cheapy spd pedals, 46/16 gearing and it /was/ quite dirrrrrty. looks like its done a few miles, which it has (like 50+ per day since last autumn).

    ...oh and there was a black specialized helmet too, which the bad-person will be needing when I find them (fat chance).

    such is life.

  • ...oh and it had two tyres too, they were black I think....

  • pictures ? that'll help a lot and hopefully you'll find your bike.
    Someone on here found someone riding their bike after it was stolen so you never know ;)

  • no sorry, unfortunately I've never really been much of a camera person.

  • where was it locked and how was it lokced up with what lock?

  • Hi,
    it was locked to the railings (set into the pavement tarmac) on the north side of wandsworth high street about 15 meters west of the Palace club, with a kryptonite new york chain through the front wheel, 3 railings, frame and my helmet. The crucial thing to note is that it was not closed with the original kryptonite shackle, but a heavy-duty security padlock (not as good but not so feeble as most padlocks) because i previously have had to cut the original shackle with an angle grinder when i broke the key last winter.

    It was locked up between 9pm and any time up to 3:15am, the railings are outside a kebab shop which is why I chose them because there's people about all the time, and also people are outside the club, security etc. But its not their job to look the right way is it, and most people are pissed by that time.

    all these little precautionary things can mean fuck all if the padlock is not as strong as you thought, could have been kids or pros, spot the bike's there early on and then get the van and the cutting equipment... fucker couldn't have ridden it away unless they brought cycling shoes ;-D
