  • Severely gutted I missed this, was having up in Morecambe at the time. Looks like a laugh and will be there for the next one, work permitting.

Hope to see some of yous tonight in Covent Garden

there are 65 people in the photo! :D

plus there were more lurkers of to the side ;)

  • Yeah i need to upgrade to HD and enhance the way i shoot things; far too rocky and bouncy...and dangerous. some kind of handle bar mounting system would be great.

you can pick up a magic arm and a pair of clamps fairly cheap, i was thinking it would be the perfect solution myself

    Great video !

Upgrade to HD, defiantly, mount the camera on the handlebars, NO!!!!!!!!!

You will be shocked at how much shake, bump and rattle you get - your head or arm acts as a kind of steadicam for the camera. If you even attempt to mount a HHD or tape drive camcorder on bars you will constantly cause the heads to park (HHD) and the tape mechanism to quit. You will get away with it with a solid state camera but the picture will be bad.

Look for a HD camera with optical image stabilization (not electronic stabilization) - srtap it to your head/helmet - shoot your footage - and then before editing run the who lot through a software video stabilizer.

P.S I have a Canon HV10 HD camera for sale if anyone is interested.

  • I think youre prob right tynan. Anytime ive rested the camera in my hand on the bar the shake gets worse. Maybe some kind of arm strap as i dont gen wear a helmet...or maybe it would be another reason to wear one!

    was thinking about this:

proof of this phenomenon is when riding with a drink in one hand if for any reason you need to steady or rest your hand on the bars (with the drink still in your hand) you'll find that the drink will pretty quickly escape from it's container. learned this lesson with hot coffee going down a steep and bumpy ramp into an underground carpark.

bummed i missed the ride, really wanted to join in but was (and still am) suffering with an unpleasant cold type thing.

    next time.

  • Afternoon all, just wanted to say a big thanks to the guys who organised the ride.. it was my first fixie group ride and this is my first post on the forum.. good banter, good spinning and good fun.. i had to slope off at 1130 for a mates birthday.. shout hello if you see me in town at any point.. i ride the all-black Ellery lo-pro with carbon four spoke or an old Paddy Wagon with aero bars or if its pissing it down a SS silver MTB.. hoping to make the ride on the 7th..

Top video and ooh the same alternative tentacles bag as mine

  • Is there any chance this ride could happen again?

  • If you build it . . . they will come!

  • We just need a leader as all the groundwork {route, sites} has been done. I think there are a lot of new members cough me cough who would like to have the chance to do this ride.

  • I hear there's a ride being formulated...
Did Donut just say he was leading it?

  • i really hope a ride like this will happen again in the future!

  • if my fixie is ready, i'll be there =D

  • Start a new thread though. That date would get confusing.

But 12th April is taken. I'll fight your for it! ;)

  • I know its a lot to ask at short notice but can anyone list the secret places visted in relation to the map on the first page? I am planning on doing it later today but am sure what to look for.
