Yeah i need to upgrade to HD and enhance the way i shoot things; far too rocky and bouncy...and dangerous. some kind of handle bar mounting system would be great.

Upgrade to HD, defiantly, mount the camera on the handlebars, NO!!!!!!!!!
You will be shocked at how much shake, bump and rattle you get - your head or arm acts as a kind of steadicam for the camera. If you even attempt to mount a HHD or tape drive camcorder on bars you will constantly cause the heads to park (HHD) and the tape mechanism to quit. You will get away with it with a solid state camera but the picture will be bad.
Look for a HD camera with optical image stabilization (not electronic stabilization) - srtap it to your head/helmet - shoot your footage - and then before editing run the who lot through a software video stabilizer.
