As far as I know they are a bikeshop in North London somewhere that had frames made under their own name (bit like Condor).

Shorter-Rochford have 2 shops in North Finchley and Potters Bar. Not much more to add than Jos has given you.

Pretty decent kit - the shops are still running, and their team (previously Arctic-Shorter) riders all used in-house kit to good effect - plenty of national level riders.

My local bike shop. Been going there since I was about 5. I bought my Diamond Back Harry Leary Turbo from there. Fond memories. Guy who works there Jason, is really cool bloke

Hi new on here.
My first road bike was an old Shorter, prob from the 70's - 80's, had a load of old campy neuvo record (?) on it and either a 531 db frame or columbus. Bought it off a friend of my dads. It was built by a guy called Barry Chick, supposedly a very good frame builder. Anyway, said bike is half way to becoming fixed gear.

Why hasn't anyone attempted a "longer bikes" joke yet? This thread is 14 posts long, surely we should have had one by now. I know its not funny, but that's not the point. This is the internet FFS.

They didn't do aerodynamic wind tunnel testing back then did they? Or consider frame/component flex as wasted energy. Silly bugger.. :P

but to be fair tho, he was the first to beat 50 mins in a 25-mile time trial. he wasn't called 'The King' for nothing.
i recently found a bike abandoned in the street, its quite rusted and most of the decals are worn but you can just make out the name shorter on the downtube and I wondered if anyone knew anything more about the company any info appreciated
