Hi Ricky - welcome aboard...
Only joking... BTW, Joe Waugh was on TV last night. C5 programme about the 1976 drought. Joe was going to the Montreal Olympics for the 180km road race. He caught the winning break but crashed in the rain...

Hahahaha, Cheers dude. Wish I'd caught that program, sounds interesting. He still runs a shop in Gosforth just outside of Newcastle city centre.

• #4
Yeah, they filmed him in his shop - and out on his Specialized Tarmac...

There was a time when I thought my Joe was a rare find in London, now they're all over the place! Inspired by a conversation in another thread, I might have to rebrand mine with a fictitious new name. Unfortunately, the only anagrams for "Joe Waugh" I can think of are:
Ha Owe Jug (The drunken framebuilder), Jag Woe Uh (the Koren frame builder of ill repute) or
Jaw Ego Uh (the frame builder with substance misuse issues).I really should get on with some work...Welcome Ricky!

hey ricky, so its fixed now? noice
but why is the brake on the back wheel??when i was running it as a singlespeed I had it set-up like a big bmx with a rear brake which was as useful as a chocolate teapot. now its fixed, its brakeless !

what ratio are you running with that NoBrakeā¢ ?
-

Was that first picture taken on the saltburn - darlington train by any chance? Looks all too familiar.

atm I'm running 42/17 as the wheels only had a 17t cog. Seems to work quite well and obv not too differantfrom 42/16 that i was running as a singlespeed.

nearly! it was taken on the train from hxhm to newcastle !
Hello Everybody !
Newbie to the site although I've been lurking around for a bit. Got my hands on a Joe Waugh roadbike about 18months ago and then converted it to what it is now when I moved to Newcastle at the start of the year. It was originally a drop bar'd bike with 105 gear on it like so :
Then I put a dmr singlespeed conversion kit on it and added a differant stem and flat bar combo off an old mountain bike I had and so in its present form it looks like this:
I've just (hopefully) bought a fixed rear wheel of a mate so hopefully by the end of the month I'll be fixed and ready for the summer.
While I'm at it heres a picture of me hard at work at uni:
Cheers ! Ricky
