could change out the pedal axles?
but that is prob a bit of work.Apparently there is no axle; the bearing is inside the thread. Allows the foot to sit lower than the 'axle' but wears out quickly. (ref wikipedia)

I have the older (non AX-) 600-version of those pedals, with a normal sized axle thread.
They look super-ace but they're actually pretty crappy otherwise, they don't somehow provide enough support for the feet and they completely broke my Converse Chucks' soles very quickly. I wouldn't really recommend those.
