Off topic alert... I wrote a 30 second gem called 'I am the Renaissance Man' about 20 years ago, I was very much the dandy fin de siecle gaddabout at the time and rather fancied myself... I perceive Tynan as the digital age's renaissance man (on this forum, anyway)... End of off topic alert, please resume normal activities... Cheap white wine X FA Cup Final... :S
:D - fin de siecle - oh! get him !
My bike geekyness was never far from the surface when doing music and pretty much all the tunes on my old band's albums (if you can count two alcoholic men as a 'band') have got bike references or noises or are named after bikes, my bike/music juncture shame crimes include the breakbeat space opera that is 'Cruel taxi' (anyone who has cycled in London doesn't need the title explained): http://mp3space.com/file/59897/cruel_taxi
'Tell 'em who we are' which contains, amongst other mangled bike noises, the sound of my drive chain spinning sampled and plumbed through a vocoder (I forget which bike): http://mp3space.com/file/59807/08_tell_em_who_we_are
'Mantra Race" a tune penned for my long lost (stolen) Klein Mantra Race, impractical (for riding around London) full suss MTB, it was like riding an armchair with dialable dampening, freaking wonderful bike: http://mp3space.com/file/59795/mantra_race
'Olivia Newton Christ', my hand painted road bike made almost entirely from skipped bike parts, great name for a bike, appalling paint job, woeful hand brushed Olivia Newton Christ logo - there was a rumour that the frame was originally a girl's mountain bike frame branded as 'Vesuvius' - but I will hear none of these lies, I like to convince myself that under the £4 worth of Dulux was a rare thoroughbred race bike fit for a stage win in the TdF: http://mp3space.com/file/59810/06_olivia_newton_christ
'Calm down' a slice of keyboard based cheese rock, includes a recording of me attempting to force a friend into clipless pedals on a stationary bike - his sheer fear (and the fact that he made me put cushions on the floor to prevent broken bones) had him in hysterical laughter, he still rides cages to this day: http://www.mp3space.com/file/59804/03_calm_down
[EDIT: how could I forget the crowd pleaser* 'No Transmission' ! (from the same album as above) the name should be self explanatory on that one.
