why should it be any different? actually the backpack ones with the air vent mesh thingy id imagine would be better as the containment itself is not in contact with your back. would like to try them. (can this be incorporated in a grobag?)
in this heat, do you not get sweaty anyway with or without a bag? if not, im the one overtaking you ;)

no difference for me. I find I sweat the same either way...

wasnt sure if being higher up your back effected sweating or not. just curious.

Where a better t-shirt/jersey to wick the sweat away.

its as much for getting to work as general use...

My experience of the vented style isn't particularly good really. You still get a sweat build up around all contact points, plus it's really hard to cram what you want in the bag because of the arched shape.
But then, I'm probably just a sweaty c**t. -

i spend as much time walking/train/subway each day on the way to work, as i do cycling.. so simply wearing wiking isnt an option.. have to wear a suit :(

OR double up on the things you carry ie. one at home one at work?
-
• #13
whether its a rucksack or a messenger bag makes no difference - if you cycle in a suit you will sweat.
-
• #14
can't you leave you suit at work and just carry a clean shirt everyday and change when you get to work?
-
• #15
nah. i teach at differnt schools each day.. cant afford 5 suits!

I've sweated more (okay, "perspired"....for those of us that are posher than the rest) with a backpack than a messenger bag. I found that because my Timbuk2 moved slightly across my back as I ride, it allows cooling to small sections of my back as the sweat evaporated. Also, because of the shape of the bag, I felt that less of the bag actually rested directly on my back - therefore less trapped heat.
Just my personal experiences. -

Same quantity of sweat either way for me.
Body/baby wipes and a change of shirt, which is what I do, is all I can suggest.

when i wear a backpack, there is more surface contact area with my back, so i sweat more.
its getting hot here, and my backpack is really getting my back sweaty.... is a messenger bag any better? just curious, as i need a new bag anyway.
