Waterproof trousers

  • I'm after a new pair as my current ones are starting to leak giving me those oh so fetching wet patches. They're also a bit too short, I must have freakishly long legs or something?

Anyone spotted any decent ones at a good price? I'm hoping that they might pop up in some summer sale?

Anyone got any they can reccomend (especially on the length front).

I've tried going in shorts, but I don't really have anywhere to change \ store and dry wet clothing.

  • I've just ordered some of these, expensive but I figure they will be useful for other stuff as well, like camping, festivals such like.

  • Ebay gortex army

  • I spotted they were popular in a previous post, had a look at a couple of them on ebay

    So they're reasonably decent then?

  • Never used 'em but arm stuff is usally ok and they're cheap. I would get some if I could be assed to replace my not very water proof water proof trousers that only really keep the wind out so at least keep me warm trousers.

  • I look like a total idiot in my rainlegs (http://www.rainlegs.co.uk/) but they are very effective in most rain we have had in the past year. Keep you nice and cool.

  • you can't look as stupid as luminous condorman who drafted me in the pissing rain yesterday till i told him to fuck off or' i'd unseat him.

  • Those rainlegs just don't look as though they'd work?

What about water coming from the road onto the bottom of y'trews?

  • Rainlegs are great, i have some - although they give you that Aguilera feeling of wearing chaps...
they only really protect your thighs and knees tho, lower legs still get wet, but as I wear 3/4's anyway I dont really care - have been using em this week in the absence of waterproof troosers and they ahve proved invaluable.

aaah, my place won't let me get away with a 3/4 length suit (that said, I've neve asked...)

I have mudguards which catch most of the spray, but the little which does spray up doesn't really bother me. This things are ideal for most rain, although if there is a massive downpour then yes you will get wet - although in my opinion this is quite rare - and this year there has only been one instance on my commute I can remember. That was so bad I doubt even full cover would have stopped the drenching.

  • Stop posting my photo Tynan.

it's really weird, when I got to my girlfriends the other night with wet thighs from the rain I thought about inventing a pair of these - someone beat me to it! I roll my jeans up to 3/4 length then they don't get wet! Only on the top of my thighs. Might get me some rainchap action!

  • they are pretty good, and they roll up so you can just wear them as a belt, for quick roll down chap action.

  • I think it's meant to be - there is a shop round the corner from work that sells them!

There was someone on Dragons Den trying to re-invent this in the last series. The Dragons, because they all ride round in 4x4 and would never have seen such an invention and pooh poohed it as being ridiculous!

Well I say, who is the ridiculous one how! HA!

  • I've got black o'er trs. from Millets. £24, with zips to the knee turning them into bell bottoms for rapid removal.

  • I never thought of them, could be a trip at the weekend...

  • i got some of those rainlegs that ads suggested earlier. today was the first rainy day since i got them.

i'm pretty happy - they're quite effective, easy to store/carry, and very comfortable to ride in. +1 for rainlegs. apart from looking a bit like a gay rave cowboy, of course.
