Is your wheel sitting straight in the drop outs? Just a thought...probably not but is my 2ps worth :)
Saw a chap on a lovely Eddy Merckx along the Camberwell Road this morning...with his wheel angled a couple of degrees to the left. He also had the cheak to beat me to E&C. I was pleased with neither of those facts. -

How new is the drivetrain? They take a while to bed in.
My chainline is straight, and I can't hear it when I ride, but can if I just pick it up and spin the cranks.
edit: doh, you can see in the pic it's miles out. should have looked!

YES!
space out the rear or adjust the BB.

what i do is use a metal ruler and place it flush against my chainwheel.
then i can see where the chain should be and thus adjust it accordingly.
your could use anything straight and long enough to do the job.
I have a miche bb (adjustable) with miche crank, sugino 75 chainring, hkk vertex chain and a eai superstar sprocket with gran compe hubs...(42mm chainline). I was expecting uber silence.....looking down the chain when its running it looks super straight...but looking at the sprocket when it engages the chain it look to me to be hitting it slightly to the left (when looking from behind). Is this normal or should i move my chainring in slighlty to get it to run in the centre. It does make a slight whirring noise but nothing too bad?
