If you want to keep the MTB / Road mashup theme going get one of these v-brake mount plates - £22 though..
^That isnt really a very sensible idea, but with such a large drop its either that or get a drop-bolt, or get a BMX caliper which has a bigger drop, or get an alhonga long-drop caliper, or get...Ha I made one of those a year before all these v break / u brake plate came out, people where telling me to build more but then they started to come out in the shops. Beaten. My dragons den moment.
If you go down the brake plate route a front brake revolution kit would look tidier IMO 25 squid www.cyclesportuk.co.uk

ah thanks for the suggestion. Yeah, unless you know you can get some cheap paint for the frame, and also are patient enough to sand it down etc then I would suggest just getting it powdercoated. The frame is already powdercoated (if its the same as mine) and takes a bit of effort to rough down... the only reason I did mine myself was because I had already bought the paint from halfords and couldnt find the recipt to take it back, im planning on getting it powdercoated in a few months.

Got my frame this morning,
I think I am gonna keep the color for now.
Whats your front hub? When i tried to put the front wheel from my other bike it didnt fit. The axle of the hub was to wide in diameter and couldnt be inserted into the fork dropouts. I dont mean the lenght of the hubs axle 100mm (this fork has 94 mm width and needs streching) but the actual diameter of the axle is not allowing me to slide in to the dropouts of the front fork.
Thanks.
Have you completed yours yet?
My goal is to make it look like this -

the drop is variable and goes to a sufficient length to cover the tsunodas drop.
from memory something like 7-10 cm of drop (dependent on where you bolt it) -

thanks eyebrows, im going to order one.
@ hyperbole. These are what i have (http://wheelandsprocket.com/itemdetails.cfm?catalogId=39&id=7129) but white, profile hubs. I had a similar problem with the front dropouts, i just filed them down a little bit, and yes they also needed a little bit of stretching. That Bob Jacksons really nice. Since using it fixed as opposed to ss ive had a little trouble with the chainline. Its not great, i think its because of the truvativ hollowtech but ive put the chainring on the inside of the spider on the cranks and its helped a bit, but i've still had it skip a few times im going to need to try and space it out a little bit more.
Apart from that its the best bike ive ever had. I'm glad that i built one up instead of buying new, I just didnt realise what a money pit it would be! That bob jackson is really nice, same deep v's as mine. i think those are continental tires on it as well? something like 25 quid each lol.

Waiting for a set of white tyres, white saddle, white bar tape. Thinking about getting a new fork. Dont like the way this fork holds the wheel. It puts it too far away from the frame. Any comments?

swap the fork and you'll drop the BB further, so pedal strike will be more likely.

looking good hyperbole, what hubs are they? also what are you doing for cranks and transmission? i just put some drop bars on mine last week, some old cinelli ones i found in a dark corner they're nice.
@fc9k, what about if you put one of those spacers on the new fork, the ones that allow you to spin the wheel 360, then it would compensate for the height lost?? i cant find a pic of what they look like.

The hubs are "Kazane" got them from US manufactured in Taiwan.
Will put Sugino Cranks with 50t chainring and half link chain over 16t Cog.
BB =107mm <--> .I looked at the chainline and its not perfectly straight but will do for now. Cant wait to get the other parts. Just wanted to confirm with you the seatpost diameter, is it 27.0 or 26.8?P.S Looks much beter with the drop bars

They look like anodized formula/Zenith/SystemX etc etc...
50 x 16 is a fairly serious ratio, even more so on 27" wheels! 85"-ish...

with those slack angles and low bb it will be very stable in a straight line at speed, especially with 85 gear inches!
you are getting a front brake for it aren't you? -

I am on 52x16 now on my other bike so I am used to it. It takes a while to get it spinning but once you do its catch me if you can. And thats probably why I hate trafic lights too.

very nice! I just bought a set of sugino cranks yesterday, what bottom bracket have you used? Also, whats the front brake? lets see the white tires when they come!
Condor have the deep drop (up to 73mm I think) calipers. Acor, I think.
