  • Good evening all.
So what's all the hoo ha about the japanese track frames? They're lovely looking to be sure but why pay the same amount of cash when you can have something brand new from a Euro or UK builder? Is that just it, the cache of an exotic brand with some history, or is there some crazy samurai steel action goiong on somewhere here? Thanks.

  • Wash your mouth out with this....

  • no it's all just style and fun and choice and colour and the exotic and all those things. thsi has been done to death, check out:

  • I wonder if European frames go for premium prices is Japan?

  • why indeed.

  • it's marketing bullshit
    don't don't believe the hype...

  • Thanks for the link. I will swot up. Thanks. Thanks.

  • If you want one, can afford it and can justify it buy one. Not everything in life is logical nor should it be.

  • tommy, you are the voice of reason today ..

  • I wonder if European frames go for premium prices is Japan?

Given what they were selling in Carnival and the amounts they were charging - yes.

  • I wonder if European frames go for premium prices is Japan?

    They sure do.
Buy a Bob jackson, and you'll get at least double in japan.
Ideal export/ import business dying to be set up.

  • ive just snapped a keirin frame; reason = difficult to find a undrilled, near immaculate frame in my size from a uk builder or euro. Ive been searching for few weeks and found nothing suitable. BLB have a few frames (albeit too big for me) AND they charging £550+

  • Jodie - I think you mean snapped up?

Or did you snap a keirin frame out of sheer frustration at being unable to find an undrilled british frame in your size? :)

  • "i did the snap" (in mock italian accent).

    true, snapped up.

  • I wonder if European frames go for premium prices is Japan?

if you can find one out here.. they are very expensive, and dont even get me started on sizes!... even a Steamroller frame is £400 or so here, which i believe is rather more than england?

if you could import frames in 50-55cm sizes, could certainly do well out here

  • Thing to remember also is, when you get a frame imported from Japan you also get 3 Bento boxes sent over as part of the deal. I'm just finishing my second box as I type, the mackeral sashimi is ace!

  • Why Kirin? Cos Sapporo sucks.

  • .

  • asahi is much better because it is brewed in the Czech republic by staropramen.

(some of it is brewed over here but it's shit compared to the czech stuff)

  • i like peroni

  • kirin ichiban.

The clue is in the name.

Damn.. beaten.. and I was even going to photograph the bottle of Kirin I have here for this joke! :P

  • Its also kind of cool that Japan has such high regard for Single Malt Scotch as well...

You know they won 'best scotch in the world' or something this year? Over the Scots!
(It might have even been mentioned on this forum)
