We have had 2 bikes stolen from inside our building door on the 3rd floor.
Seems like people will get to just about anywhere to pilfer. -

They'll have to be ninjas to get past me. My bike sits behind me on the 3rd floor of a building that has only 1 entry point and only 1 staircase.

we lock ours in a disused kitchen.
But I'm being made redundent in 2 weeks, so god knows what the next one will be like. It's my biggest concern about any new job...

Mine's in an underground garage with swipe card only access and security patrolled and I still put two D locks on it.

Mine is safe in my workshop. One door, 2 levels underground, and unable to be entered without going past my (always open) office door.

mine is in a box

Mine is sitting next to me as I speak/type.

my box is next to me... well at the foot of my bed yay for 3am and still not done packing, and not sleeping

Mine is outside, sitting proudly in protest and not having a proper parking spot.

No-one has tried to steal my shoes, which are securely laced to my feet.

The bike room in our office (Covent Garden) is like an underground bunker. I haven't heard of anything getting nicked in the 6 months I've been here. Still lock my Colnago up though. Who wouldn't?

Mine is reasonably secure (when the mahoosive steel gate is left closed). Though not so safe - in Feb a bastard great industrial wheelie bin trundled down the slope to the bike park and crushed my front wheel.

Mine sits in the end of the lab about 20' from my office.
-
• #16
Is your place of work secure?
Yeah. We'd all just walk out otherwise. :-)
-
• #17
mine sits on an island, and i have the only boat off the island!!!

I lock mine on some railings opposite my office window where I can see it. I check every few minutes. I am however thinking of putting a webcam on the window ledge so I don't have to look away from my screen... And maybe a motion sensor on the bike which triggers the camera to pop up and an alarm to sound and the police to be called... wait, no that would be paranoid.

mine is behind a security coded door and cameras.
at home we have secuirty gates but i still leave my bike inside. -

Ground floor of the studio, one entrance security gate over the door.
Also, keep it under the stairs and we are letting the floor out to some one soon, and they are gonna have a receptionist! -

me too. well, one abus chain but otherwise the same. some people don't even lock up at all down there. a couple of other fixeds among them. i couldn't do it. even though my bike isn't exactly worth loads, it's worth a lot to me in terms of transport, and fun as well as cash.
the one day i forgot my lock i brought my bike up in the goods lift and hid it in the stationery cupboard all day.

used to be better, until last week. bikes used to go down in the basement, but now they're on the roof terrace. dunno... don't feel 100% confident leaving my bike out on the roof in shoreditch. started double locking it up (though nobody else seems to).

Shore ditch roofs are rather easy to get up on as well.
You can walk from great eastern st to dalston without to much trouble.used to be better, until last week. bikes used to go down in the basement, but now they're on the roof terrace. dunno... don't feel 100% confident leaving my bike out on the roof in shoreditch. started double locking it up (though nobody else seems to).

Mine is in a bike store under a building at uni. Swipecard access, and they've just put a turnstile in.
Still, a Krypto NY fahgettaboudit and evo mini d lock, krypto cable for saddle, and an abus chain for front wheel... And insurance! I think I'm a bit paranoid :S
