For Sale: Peugeot Fixie (price negotiable)

  • SOLD to a lovely Swedish lady off Ladbroke Green SOLD

I have a purple Peugeot racing bike that has been converted into a fixie, the reason why I'm selling this excellent bike is because the frame is too small for a person of my size (6'1), and during a long and smoggy ride from Notting Hill to Islington, my back really took a troll.

now, I have took some decent photos so you'll see exactly what you're getting in high quality (if requested, I can send the original photos), the problem is I really don't know how much I should sell it for, especially with all the upgrade I've add to it.

complete rear wheel build with fixed hubs, cost me £100 with Surly 16t (after all it's the safest way to go fixed).
Surgino messenger crank, 44t with surgino bottom branket, £70
Charge saddle, bullhorn handlebar and faux leather grip (quite comfortable actually)

the only original part of the bike is simply the saddle post, the stem and the front wheel.

here's the direct link to the photos -

  • for sales huh fixie u say

  • my back really took a troll.

we have a couple more round here that need taking..

nice bike, BTW, I've not seen one in that purple before

  • my friend Gus (gusyup. on fgss) would potentially be very interested in making an offer, could you possibly send him an email (he is with me now) including the frame size if possible
he asks whether he would be able to take a test ride.
    based in camden
please could you drop him an email on gusmallett@hotmail.com

    cheers

  • it's metallic purple too, got a fair bit of chipped due to rushing about in Notting Hill, but the paintjob still look great, I would've removed the sticker but it's those sticker that's pretty much welded to the frame, you know?

what would be a reasonable asking price? £150=180?

  • what would be a reasonable asking price? £150=180?

That would be very cheap for a complete bike IMO. If its only the size thats giving you problems, why not sell frame-only and keep the wheel and cranks for a new frame?

  • because its a pew-got.

i don't think thats too cheap, french threads, conversion, old pew-got, old wheel. i would ask 200 for it but expect around 180

  • not all pugs have frog threading, chris.

but if it's the heavy tubing, then sub £180 is a fair price

    i know but most do.

Well, I did pay £169 for it 3 years ago for an excellent condition (even the tyres were in perfect condition despite lasting 10 years) road bike with all the trimming, even the gear knob thingy is made out of titanium (probably pervious owner's upgrade).

That would be very cheap for a complete bike IMO. If its only the size thats giving you problems, why not sell frame-only and keep the wheel and cranks for a new frame?

Because after selling this, and add an extra ton or two, I can easily get a Charge Plug, see where I'm going? also even two weeks without a bike due to building and swapping part is life-threatening to me (jobs, money, etc. hence bike as it cheaper than the tube, don't even own a car, not in fucking London!).

i don't think thats too cheap, french threads, conversion, old pew-got, old wheel*.

*****Only the front wheel thought, the back is entirely new.

    According to the bike it's "Mangalloy HLE", according to Google it's;

"The HLE Mangalloy appears to be used in their lower models, a proprietary tubing that Peugeot used in the late 80's/early 90's. Probably not a top end bike, but certainly not trash either."

it's also an 1989 Peugeot so it's a bit newer than most of the other Pug you seen on the road, plus I like to think it would make a great entry for those who want to try out the whole fixed wheel bicycle lark, especially since this bike handle nicely, quite light (lighter than a £550 off the shelf road bike), and the adden bullhorn bar does make a difference in stability at sprinting (and slowing down).

  • I decided to sell it for £190, which I think is a reasonable price without ripping people off.

those who want to buy it, email me at edscoble at gmail dot com. I'm in Wimbledon but willing to go to Central London to sell it.

  • Hi, I'm interested in the bike, please reply to me at

    Thanks

    moony

  • ed, I think i know someone who may be interested. If moony backs out, email me at asm_yersAThotmail.com

    Thanks

  • I have a 93-94 peugeot steel racer that I want to sell. It would need converting to fixed/ss and is in good condition - full working order today, just needs new pads, tyres. And it has a nice metallic purple and silver paint job.

I'd be looking for about £100.

  • Do you have a photo? if so could you send it to steadb44@hotmail.com

  • Hi tom, if the above deal falls through i'll get in touch to pass on details.

    Thanks :)

  • I'll sort some photos out tonight when I get home....
