Customising My Profile

Howdy. When I click on the Customise your profile link on my profile page I get this message:

J-D-S-H, you do not have permission to access this page. This could be due to one of several reasons:

Your user account may not have sufficient privileges to access this page. Are you trying to edit someone else's post, access administrative features or some other privileged system?
If you are trying to post, the administrator may have disabled your account, or it may be awaiting activation.

But it's my own profile. Chances are i'm being special, what am i doing wrong?? Ta.

I should probably elaborate - my avatar thing doesn't show up when I post and i'm trying to rectify this, I thought I might be able to sort this out through Customize Profile. Am I right??

It might be a little bit rash to think about customizing your profile as a relatively inexperienced poster. A lot of people get an off-the-peg profile first, post it into the ground, gradually change some bits, and then think about going down the full-custom route.
